How to Lock Your Bebe Suitcase Zippers (and TSA Locks)
Bebe zipper pullers interlock so you can add your own lock. Learn how to lock a case and what to look for in a TSA-recognized lock.
The zipper pullers on bebe hardside suitcases interlock, so you can thread your own padlock through them. Our suitcases do not come with a built-in TSA lock. If you travel to or from the US, look for a TSA-recognized lock.
What "push button" means in our listings
You will see "push button" on our product pages. That describes the trolley handle, which locks at your chosen height. It is not a lock for the case.
How to lock your zippers
- Close both zipper sliders so they sit together at the same end of the case.
- Line up the two pullers so the holes meet.
- Pass the shackle of your lock through both holes.
- Snap the lock closed. If it has a combination, set a code you will remember.
If your model has more than one compartment, such as an expandable case or a duffel with a front pocket, check that the pullers on that model can be locked the same way.
Choosing a lock
- TSA-recognized lock. If you travel through US airports, these allow inspectors to open the lock with a master key instead of cutting it. They are usually marked as TSA-recognized on the packaging or the lock.
- A lock you can use easily. A small combination lock avoids carrying a key.
- Outside the US. Rules differ by country and airport. Check the rules for your route.
If a non-TSA lock is on a case selected for inspection in the US, officers may remove it without a key. We cannot say how other countries handle this.
What a zipper lock does and does not do
A lock deters casual opening and keeps the pullers from drifting apart. It is not a security guarantee. Zippers can sometimes be opened by force, so don't pack valuables in checked luggage. Keep documents, medication, electronics and jewelry in your cabin bag.
Look after the zipper too
Locking a case that is overfilled puts extra pressure on the pullers. Check that the case closes easily first. See Packing with compression straps.
